On Queen Elizabeth's 90th birthday, a book The Servant Queen And The King She Serves was produced which contained a forward written by Her Majesty revealing her personal thoughts on her Christian faith. The book uses the Queen’s own words to show her trust in Jesus Christ. In the forward she writes: “I have been and remain very grateful to you for your prayers and to God for his steadfast love.

God has invested so much in you. You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). If they rolled all the technology in the world together it would pale into insignificance to you. Think about it, you have phenomenally complex nervous and digestive systems, the communication links between your brain and body parts are way beyond anything mankind can get close to copying. You really are a person of tremendous worth and potential, God loves you so very much, it's little wonder that God claims believers as spiritual royalty!

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the 'Good News.' It's 'Good News' for life here right now and for life eternal with God. However, the reason it's called the Gospel is that there is also bad news. The bad news is that all people have rebelled against God and His ways and all people consequently deserve the punishment for their rebellion. We have all missed the mark, the Bible calls this sin. Ultimately, the punishment for this rebellion is Hell but it often leads to people living in bondage and misery in this life also. It is against this backdrop that the Gospel becomes such 'Good News.'

Spiritual Test:

Do you think that you're a 'good' person? Most people seem to think that they are and that if there is a Heaven God will allow them in. Let’s explore this further, have you ever:

  • Told a lie: Yes or No

  • Stolen anything: Yes or No

  • Hated someone: Yes or No

  • Used God's name in vein: Yes or No

  • Lusted after someone: Yes or No

So let's examine these in the light of the Bible.

Told a lie? That makes you a liar destined for Hell. (Revelation 22:15)
Ever stolen anything? That makes you a thief before God. (Ephesians 4:28)
Hated or spoke evil about someone? God sees that as murder. (Matthew 5:21-22, 1 John 3:15)
Used God's name in vain? That's called blasphemy. (Colossians 3:8)

Ever lusted after someone? God views that as adultery of the heart. (Matthew 5:27)

Spiritual Doctor:

What would you think of a doctor who only ever gave their patients good news? A doctor who wanted to keep everyone happy so never warned their patients about the truth they were facing. If they had warned the patients many would have sought help and could have lived but doctor positive didn't provide the truth. The words you've read here come from a spiritual doctor, the Holy Bible. They have possibly uncovered that you are in a dangerous spiritual condition. Here is the truth, it might make for uncomfortable reading but its worth hearing it now. If you have ever done the things in the Spiritual Test above, even just once, technically God sees you as a lying, thieving, murderous, blasphemer and adulterer at heart. Therefore, when you die will God judge you innocent or guilty? Would you deserve Heaven or Hell? If you’re honest, you know that you would be guilty and deserve Hell. The Good News is that God loves people and because of His great love He provided a way to escape His judgment: 'God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us' (Romans 5:8). Jesus willingly took the penalty for our sins, died in our place and rose from the dead (Rom. 3:21-31). Do you want to be set free from the eternal penalty of sin (Missing Gods designated target) and be at peace with God?

Freedom through Jesus:

Are you willing to change (repent) from your sinful life and follow Jesus? Jesus promised, "If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed!" (Jn. 8:36) How is this freedom received? As a gift, God's promise is that Jesus, "Will save His people from their sins." (Mt. 1:21). Doing this is straightforward, "...if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved...for whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Rom 10:9,13). The Bible teaches that: "It is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment" (Hebrews 9:27).

Our wonderful Queen Elizabeth has her hope and faith in Jesus, you can join her today. When you make this commitment you become part of a spiritual family, spiritual royalty to be exact, that's what the bible teaches: 'But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light' (1 Peter 2:9). So the question is, are you one of the chosen? Do you sense that God is calling you? Jesus taught that: "He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe in the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him" (John 3:36). Jesus taught Heaven or Hell, so follow Jesus and pray this prayer today.
